Many if not most would agree that we do not live in an HEROIC AGE
BUT YET WE ALL HAVE HEROES - PAST And CURRENT -
So I ask myself who are my heroes - and there are some I consider heroic - for different reasons.
This past Sunday I was minded that for many years I had admired John Henry Newman - and I still do.
Of course as we grow older and a bit more wise we come to the realisation that our heroes often have feet of clay - and that's just fine.
SOME FIGURES OR THE WORK OF THAT I ADMIRE - Not necessarily heroes:
Racine
Thomas Jefferson
Annie Ernaux
John Cheever
Tennesse Williams
Jimmy Carter
WHERE THERE ARE HEROS THERE ARE INEVITABLY VILLAINS!
White hats vs. Black hats
Some villains - public and personal - A sample from recent events:
Mark Meadows
Jim Jordan
Donald Trump
