APHORISTIC THOUGHTS

Life is a treasure carried in vessels of clay.

He was not perfect but might strive for perfection.

He loved her more than reason would permit.

Only death could cure him of his pain.

*****
The past is always seen as better or worse than it was.

Thankfulness is born of a generous nature.

Hate flourishes when nurtured by ignorance and lies.

Youth is no pleasure - old age is no better.

Procrastination is simply another word for loss.

To see and to hear is not always to understand.

Callimachus XXXIV G-P (A.P. 7.80):

    ἁρπακτὴς Ἀίδης οὐκ ἐπὶ χεῖρα βαλεῖ.

                                                             *****

They told me, Heraclitus, they told me you were dead;
They brought me bitter news to hear and bitter tears to shed;
